Watch as our Lived Experience Partners answer the important questions of ‘what is co-production?’ and learn what it means to them.

Supporting organisations to embed personalised care is a key part of our work at Aqua. At its core, it means people having choice and control over the way their care is planned and delivered, focusing on ‘what matters’ to them and their individual strengths and needs.
Evidence tells us that 1 in 7 people have “post decision regret” in England, with £52million spent per annum in England on “ill-informed consent” clinical negligence. Half of people don’t feel included in the decisions about their care in England nor have done for the past 10 years, and where people lack confidence around health and wellbeing they are 10 times higher utilisers of health and care services.
We are one of the largest providers of personalised care training in the UK with over 12 years’ experience in delivering multi-disciplinary shared decision making (SDM) and self-management support (SMS) capability. During this time we have worked with over 10,000 patients, over 4,000 health professionals and a number of high profile organisations including NHS England and The Health Foundation.
Our approach is underpinned by quality improvement methodology and ensures the context is considered and impacts are measured. We provide individuals and teams across a system the tools to understand what personalised care is, and how they can support themselves and others to develop and implement this in practice in a sustainable way.

Our personalised care programmes are accredited by the Personalised Care Institute (PCI). The PCI provides education and inspiration to health and care professionals to deliver universal personalised care that takes into account an individual’s strengths, needs and expectations, in order to deliver the right care for them.
Our Lived Experience team have extensive experience in personalised care, shared decision making, motivational interviewing and supporting organisations to embed lived experience and co-production into their work.
