For World Patient Safety Day, 17 September 2021, WHO urges all stakeholders to “Act now for safe and respectful childbirth! with the theme “Safe maternal and newborn care”.

Here at Aqua we have been working alongside The NHS England and NHS Improvement Women’s Health Policy Team to scope, co-design and deliver a bespoke Safety Culture Programme for Maternity and Neonatal Leaders involving all maternity providers across England.

Our initial engagement across the system saw us virtually meet with over 160 key stakeholders within a period of 3 weeks to fully scope, plan and co-design the programme. The programme focus is on the Board Level Safety Champions and Non-Executive Directors with responsibility for Maternity and Neonatal services. Aqua have extensive experience in delivering training programmes within the NHS to understand and improve the safety culture of organisations and we are helping leaders to understand the relationship between safety improvement and safety culture in order to improve the safety and quality of care delivered to mothers and babies.

The programme has been designed to reflect the needs and requirements of Board Maternity and Neonatal Safety Champions and is available for Board Champions all 130 maternity provider Trusts across all 7 regions.

If you are a Board Level Safety Champion or Non-Executive Director with responsibility for Maternity and Neonatal services, please register here for the programme.
