In our latest topical report, Pneumonia: Closing the gap – A call to action, we examine how patients in the North West of England are more likely to die from pneumonia than those in the South, with almost one in six dying in hospital or within 30 days of discharge.
The report, highlights how hospital trusts in the region are working together to share data and improve the quality of care; but that there is still work to be done, identifying problems with diagnosis, prescribing the correct antibiotics quickly, as well as co-morbidities mediated by regional health inequalities, were key areas to address.
