We are delighted to announce that from the 1 September, NHS England’s Quality Service Improvement and Redesign team, known as QSIR, will transfer to Aqua.

QSIR, a well-respected and influential improvement capability-building programme for providers and systems has run for almost 12 years and is currently supporting more than 80 NHS providers with their quality improvement work.

The transfer of QSIR to Aqua, a leading NHS improvement agency, embodies a shared vision to improve health and care services across the UK through cutting-edge quality improvement initiatives. Our combined expertise promises to bring about numerous opportunities to transform the way health and care is delivered across the country, creating meaningful change for the population. By transferring the QSIR Programme on a sustainable footing into Aqua with a refreshed business model, NHS England signals its commitment to supporting systems and providers to deliver NHS Impact.

Sue Holden, Chief Executive of Aqua said:

Sue Holden, Aqua Chief Executive Officer quote: “I am delighted to welcome our QSIR colleagues to Aqua. There is strong strategic alignment between our two organisations and I am looking forward to the opportunities that will arise as a result of this transfer. QSIR’s considerable national reach will provide a continued opportunity to deliver industry-leading quality improvement support across the country, transforming the care of countless people.”

The QSIR programme was recognised in the NHS Delivery and Continuous Improvement Review as an important resource for building improvement capability across the health and social care system. With Aqua’s expertise also recognised in the review, the transfer of QSIR will further allow us to play a vital role in the transformation of health and care organisations by supporting them to embed a culture and system for continuous improvement.

At the heart of this transfer is both organisations’ commitment to improving outcomes for the populations that our customers serve. By uniting our efforts, we will be able to provide a wider portfolio of offers and increase our capacity, amplifying our impact on health and care organisations across the UK, and beyond.
