After four and a half years of dedicated service, Sir David Dalton, Chair of the Aqua Board, has notified the Board of his intention to step down from the role.

Sir David has been a long-term supporter and advocate of Aqua and whilst we respect his decision, we are incredibly sad to lose him as our Chair. We would like to thank Sir David for all of his leadership, support and vision.

On stepping down, Sir David said:

“I have thoroughly enjoyed all of my association with Aqua, from an idea which gestated to the forming of Aqua when I was Chief Executive at Salford Royal, to the position I have held as its Chair for the last 4 ½ years.  I have decided it is now time to hand over a newly constituted Board to a new Chair.

“I have always believed in the power of Aqua to unite leaders in the NHS and to inspire its talented people to make meaningful improvements to services which directly benefit patients and people.

“Its value is recognised across the NHS and I am certain that it will continue to develop and prosper in the years ahead. I will always be an advocate and strong supporter of its role and its activities. I wish the Board and the staff of Aqua all the very best for the future.”

Whilst the departure of Sir David marks the end of an era, we look forward to what the future brings and are happy to say that Deputy Chair, Phil Wadeson, will act as Chair until the process is agreed for appointing to the role of Chair.

We wish Sir David all the best for the future.
